Bourbon Street terror attack suspect Shamsud-Din Jabbar. 

The FBI has released a more recent photograph of Shamsud-Din Jabbar, the primary suspect in the New Year’s Day terror attackon Bourbon Street, New Orleans, which tragically claimed 15 lives and left numerous others injured.

According to the FBI, Jabbar, 42, was a U.S. citizen and an Army veteran from Texas. Authorities revealed ongoing investigations, with FBI special agents executing court-authorized search warrants across New Orleans and multiple states.  

"The FBI's Evidence Response Team is carefully processing the crime scene to gather all pertinent evidence," the agency stated. The scene is expected to be handed over to local authorities by Thursday morning. 

Attack Inspired by Extremist Ideology  

Earlier on Wednesday, President Joe Biden addressed the nation, confirming that the suspect had uploaded videos to social media just hours before the attack. In these videos, Jabbar allegedly pledged allegiance to the Islamic State (ISIS) and expressed his intent to commit violence.  

The attack unfolded when the suspect drove a pickup truck through a police barricade and into a crowd of New Year's Eve celebrants. The rampage ended when police fatally shot Jabbar.  

Investigation Continues  

While Jabbar acted as the primary assailant, the FBI believes he did not act alone. Investigators discovered firearms, an improvised explosive device (IED), and other suspicious materials in the suspect's vehicle and additional locations in the French Quarter. 

The investigation remains active as authorities work to uncover any potential accomplices and further details about the planning and execution of the attack.
